Safety tips
Good habits for every meet-up
Most people on Zellany are just like you: buying and selling things near home. These habits help every deal go well, and they take a minute.
-
Meet in a public place
Choose a busy spot you both know: a mall, a convenience store, or a barangay hall or police station. Daytime is best.
-
Bring a friend
Go with someone, or tell a friend where you are going, who you are meeting and when you will be back.
-
Look before you pay
- Check it is the item in the photos and that it works.
- Phones: test the screen, camera and charging, and dial *#06# to see the IMEI.
- Motorcycles: the OR/CR should match the engine and chassis numbers.
-
Never pay a stranger first
No deposits, no "reservation fee" and no sending money to hold an item. Pay when you meet and have checked it.
-
Keep the talk in Chats
If someone is in a hurry to move to another app, slow down. Never share a one-time code (OTP), a password or a card number with anyone.
-
Watch for warning signs
- A price far below what others ask.
- Pressure to decide or pay right now.
- A link to "pay here" or "verify your account".
What Zellany does
- Our team looks at reports and acts on what breaks the rules.
- We remove items and accounts that break the community rules.
- We keep your phone number and email hidden unless you choose to share them.
- We never ask for your password or a one-time code.
What Zellany does not do
- We do not hold anyone's money. You pay the seller yourself.
- We do not inspect items before they are sold.
- We cannot promise that every person or item is what they say. These habits are your best guard.
