Record, pick and trim a video

You can record a new video or pick one you already have. If it is longer than 30 seconds, trim it before you add it.

On the app

1. On the Add screen, tap Video.
2. Choose how long to record: 15 s or 30 s. 30 seconds is the longest.
3. Tap the shutter to start. Tap it again, or hold, to stop.
4. Or tap the gallery picture to choose a video you already have.
5. Allow the camera when your phone asks.

On the edit screen you can:

• Trim the start and the end.
• Pick a cover picture from the video.
• Mute the sound.
• Add text, stickers and a filter. See Filters and stickers in Studio.

On the website

• Tap Record to film with your camera, if your browser allows it. You can pick 15 s or 30 s, and flip the camera when you have two.
• Or tap Choose a video to pick a file.
• Use the Starts and Ends controls to trim. The screen shows how much you keep.
• Tap Add video when you are happy. Add without edits uploads the video as it is.

Tips

• Hold the phone upright. Tall videos fit best, but any shape works.
• Film in daylight and keep your hand steady.
• Show the front, the back and the item working.
• Keep sound on if you want to speak. Videos play muted at first.

Good to know

• Edits such as the cut, the filter and the text are added while we check the video. After that, you cannot change them. Record again if you want a different look.
• The file must be a real video from a camera. We refuse files that look odd.
