Why is my item "being checked"?
Some items are looked at before they show. This is a photo check or a quick look by our team. It needs nothing from you.
"Being checked" means we are looking at your item before everyone can see it. Only you can see it for now. It usually shows after the check, and you do not need to do anything.
Why it happens
- Photo check. We look at the photos for things that are not allowed. This is automatic and often quick. It happens only while the photo check is switched on.
- A quick look by our team. Some categories look at every new post, at your first few posts, or at items above a certain price.
- The same private number on two items. If the IMEI or serial number matches another item, a person looks first.
- New photos on a live item. We look at the new photos first.
- Reports. If several different people report an item as a scam or as illegal, we hide it until a person looks.
- A new account. Videos from a new account, and your first few videos, wait for a person.
What you see
The item shows "Being checked" in My items, with a short note. A check by our team takes longer than a photo check. We cannot promise a time.
What to do
- Wait. You will get a note when it is live, or when it needs a change.
- Do not post the same item again. Duplicates are not allowed.
- While reports hold an item, you cannot edit it until our team finishes.
Items being checked count toward your limit of 20 live items.
If it is not posted
You will see "Not posted" with the reason. See Why was my item removed or not posted?.
Heads up
A check is not a stamp of approval. It does not mean we have inspected the item.
